Miscellaneous
& Unidentified Beefcake

As with all markets, when "Beefcake" photography became profitable, everyone got into the act. Thousands of images by little known photographers and reprint studios are still in the attics and bottom drawers of everyone's unmarried uncles around the world. This page features quality photographs by photographers whose work we will carry on a limited basis or who are unidentifiable. Here we feature photographs by Vince of London, Milo of Los Angeles and the exquisitely beautiful sepia-toned prints of John Arnt of Seattle. We also feature photographs by the painter Quaintance of several of the models he painted, including Bob Spahn, Harry Hambly and Bill Bredlau.

John Arnt of Seattle
These richly sepia-toned prints are from John Arnt's Gallery of Magnificence. Arnt was an early contemporary of Douglas of Detroit, Lon of New York and Quaintance. These unstamped large-format photographs are beautifully printed in rich sepia tones. Quality and clarity of photos are excellent. We have several more photos from this series, including several of Arnt's most popular model John Curtis who is featured with a totem pole in our "Miscellaneous Beefcake" header above! If interested, address inquiries to theguys@bigkugels.com.

Quaintance Studio

Quaintance, better known for his paintings than his photographs, was a featured artist in the early Physique Pictorials until his untimely death in the mid-1950s. Quaintance reproduced images of several of the models he used in his paintings and Bredlau, Spahn and Hambly were a few of the most popular.

Milo of Los Angeles
The work of Southern California photographer MILO, a successful photographer in his own right, is often mistaken for that of his West Coast neighbors Dave Martin and Bruce of LA because of the lighting, quality and often the models these photographers shared. His handsome beefcake photos date from the 1950s and early '60s and usually bare his "Milo of Los Angeles" stamp on verso. If interested, address inquiries to theguys@bigkugels.com.
